A Little Meditation Never Hurt Anyone

Tonight, I was a little too tired to to get my arse to the gym. I had a really long and stressful day at the office and just could not bring myself to meet up with Mr. Elliptical.

So, I decided to delve into the videos I bought over the weekend.

In an attempt to bring the workout home to me, I went crazy at London Drugs on Saturday and got a few workout videos - to concentrate more on the toning and stretching side of things (because I am crazy for cardio).

After fiddling around with the DVD player which decided to die the moment I wanted to use it, I went to the trusty old mac computer and popped one of those puppies in. First up: Yoga Meltdown with Jillian:

About 10 minutes into the routine, I decided that this was a little more cardio / fast-paced than I wanted tonight. Also learned that Jillian is much more fun to watch on TV than having her as a trainer (by way of video).

So, I turned that one off - not in the mood - nope sorry!

Now I am wondering about the other Jillian video I got: The 30 Day Shred:

All my weight watcher buddies use this shred video and talk about it with high regard - so I am going to give it a try - but it is still in the plastic wrap.

Since I wasn't in the mood for any hard-core nilly-willy, I popped in this Meditation for Beginners video.

This is exactly what the doctor ordered.

This meditation video was all about being mindful - which is something that I haven't really done in a long time. As soon as I started connecting my mind to my body, I began to feel the soreness in my knees, ankles and wrists. I have a tendency to ignore the pain in my joints, which is not good. This was a good reminder that I need to PAY ATTENTION to my body, especially since I do so many high-intensity cardio workouts.

One of my July goals will be to do this type of meditation at least once a week to remind my silly little self that I need to pay attention to my body a little more and be mindful of what my body is telling me.

Food Patrol today: 28 Points consumed (2 points over daily points allowance due to 10-point muffin from Tim Hortons that was consumed this morning - I had no idea it would be 10 points, live and learn my friends, live and learn!)

  1. Yeah I remember when I looked up the info. for a TH banana muffin and it was like 12 points or something, i just about passed out I was so shocked! Needless to say I haven't had one of those in a while lol.

It's really great that you're paying attention to what your body is telling you, that is so important and something I need to work on too.

I've got 30 Day Shred too but I haven't tried it yet, maybe I'll test it out this week :)

Way to go Lisa, you're doing awesome!

  2. Muffins are the WORST when it comes to high points values. Seriously not worth it. I might have to buy that DVD, could be helpful when school starts. Keep up the hard work Lisa :)

  3. Oh, muffins. There were some in the break room on Monday and I had a bunch of points left, so I looked up the info on them. PASS! 10 points? I'd rather spend that on a meal than a silly muffin.

I really want to try the JM Yoga video, but she does terrify me. That said, the 30DS is amazing. It's tough, but worth it. It's blissfully short. Give it a try!
