That is right! I am back and I am reaching my goals tonight!
After I got over my pitty party from yesterday I decided to shape up and regain control (with a little help from my blogging buddies). At work today I spent my lunch hour doing a power walk for 30 minutes, then tonight I went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the elliptical and 55 minutes on the treadmill.
But wait, there's more.
I reached TWO of my monthly goals tonight at the gym:
1.) I increased the resistance on the elliptical machine to 7 (from 6) and was able to complete the whole elliptical workout at 7!
2.) I ran - oh I ran! I have no idea where it came from, I was on the treadmill for about 30 minutes then just decided that I wanted to reach my goal of running at 5.5 for two full minutes straight - and I did. I could not believe that I did it - I was running with a big stupid smile on my face and felt great - so great that I continued to run. In all, I ran for THREE minutes straight at a pace of 5.5. I have no idea if it was because I was watching Losing It with Jillian or because the 90 lb girl next to me was running for 45 minutes at a pace of 8.8 (yes - I looked at her machine while she was running) - but I did it and I feel like a million bucks!
I hate that I get into funks - it is so easy to forget how great it feels when you accomplish your goals and take charge of your life.
I am back and have kicked this thing into high gear - no more pitty party for me!
Also, I managed to stay on plan today with my eating and as I type this - I have no urge to do some late night snacking (something I have proven I am really good at).

Great job Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWe all get into funks sometimes. That's just a part of the process. It's not realistic to expect perfection all the time, right? You just have to work hard enough so that you have more good days than bad and more progress than setbacks, which you're doing!
Way to bounce back girl :)
Way to kick ass!
ReplyDeleteI can't run for three minutes straight. I can run for 60 seconds, but that feels like torture. I don't know why the elliptical feels so much easier - I'm still working my arse off!
I love the elliptical. I really miss going to the gym, but I'm having a great time walking around my neighborhood. Congratulations on being able to run for 3 minutes. That is so awesome! It is those little mini almost internal goals that make a difference. They really show the kind of progress you're making. I think you've just given me an idea.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your run!! You totally kick ass at the gym, I think its incredible the motivation you have. You kicked that 45 points right in the face!

Congratulations! Exercise really builds on itself, doesn't it?
