I've been thinking a lot these last few days about what is it that is making me lose weight and STICK TO IT this time around. I've concluded that the reason why I have been so successful this time around, and have stuck to both my eating and activity plans for the past three months is because I've simply decided that I want to do this for me, no one else, just me.
I have a few friends who are struggling with weight and other additions, and the only ones who have learned to manage their food / alcohol addictions are the ones who decided that they wanted to make a life change for themselves. These kind of things (life changes) you cannot do for anyone else because at the end of the day, if you care more about overeating than you do about being healthy, then you'll have your head in the fridge until the cows come home.
The bottom line in all of this - if you really want it for you - then you make it happen, no excuses. The want evolves into desire, which rotates into motivation which is the guiding factor of you staying on plan and achieving your goals. This is what I have found anyway and it appears to be working in a big way.
I think you're absolutely right and your broke it down eloquently :)
ReplyDeletetrue that! I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteSo very true! My mother told me that you only change when the pain of staying the same is greater then the pain of changing. So, yeah - the only person that can change us is..us. You're doing great, keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteMother's... they know everything don't they?
ReplyDeleteHi! Congrats on your weight loss success. Great job! Awesome that you are doing so good and doing it all for you! Love it! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog from a comment you left on Jen's Ink Pen. I'll be back to read some more for sure! I'm trying to lose 40 lbs. by my 40th birthday (in Nov.) and I'm getting a bit discouraged. Hoping to find some good ideas and encouragement here.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, as I'm looking over your blog & some of the photos you've posted of yourself, I'm wondering how tall you are. Your current weight is about where I am now & I feel like you look much slimmer than me...much. (I'm about 5'6). Anyway, you are looking great! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen (and all)!
ReplyDeleteI feel so great having lost 40 lbs makes such a huge difference! I'm 5'2.
