Taking Some Good Advice

While reading through my favourite blogs a couple days ago, I came across this post by Once Upon a Time... In the Land of Cheese and Sunkist, in particular, #14 on her list:

"14. What you give, comes back to you. What you take...that comes back as well. Make sure you give more than you take."

Now, I have heard this a million times in many different contexts, but sitting on my computer reading it a few short days ago, it triggered an "ah ha" moment for me.

See, I have felt like quite the martyr lately - "woe it me", "why does this shiet always happen to me".... Well, duh Lisa - you get what you put in. And frankly, I really have been all about me this last little while - no wonder the universe is throwing me all sorts of shiet bags.

I've honestly been thinking about this over the last couple days after reading this post and it's made me want to make a change in my attitude. While still focusing on me (because you can't help anyone unless you help yourself first), I want to start making a conscious effort to genuinely give a lot more, to friends, family, strangers, fellow bloggers, and the like.

I have to consciously put this mentality at the forefront of my brain and thoughts. Also, I do want to leave this world having contributed more than I took.

Furthermore, at Yoga tonight - the instructor did this neat little visualization activity - stating that if we have a positive attitude in our hearts and in our souls, that positive attitude will spew over into our conscious and unconscious actions.

These are two related pieces of advice/ ways of living that I I feel I need to embrace in life - to be a better person, and, as karma would have it, to live a better, more rewarding life.

Namaste Bloggies!

  2. Thank you for letting me know that you took something from that. I try to remind myself of that often...even when I know that I might be taking more than I should or...if not taking...then not putting out good karma or vibes. I have this little "energy ball" I use when I speak or teach about attitude and our energy. I have several people stand in a circle and hold hands...then between two people is this little ping pong sized ball that has 2 electrodes on it. Those two individuals take hold of their partners hands and then use their other hand on the ball. As long as the entire circle of people is holding hands, the ball lights up. But if anyone along the chain lets go, the ball will NOT light up. It just proves the point of human energy. It's a powerful thing...and it all starts with our attitude ya know!
