Weigh In and 1/2 Point Check!

Damn! No change today at weigh in. Still at 177 lbs! Boo hiss.

However, I did stay on plan this week and managed to get in a fair bit of exercise in. Since tomorrow is the last day of classes for me and all I will have to do until Labour Day is work - I think I'll be able to give this my all and really push myself to see how much I can do.

We're half way through August and I am about half way through my monthly goals. Still, my running goals worry me - don't know if I'll be able to make them.

I've got two weeks to try though.

  2. I don't know where you are on your running goals, but you should consider trying to hit them by doing a walk/run interval at a slightly faster pace than you usually would. So, if you currently run steady state at 5.0 or 5.5 mph, try doing intervals where you run at 6.0 mph for three minutes, then give yourself a one minute walking break, then go back to running at 6.0 mph for another three minutes. Alternate this for a full 30 minutes. Not only are intervals a great cardiovascular workout that torch calories, your running will improve in no time.

    I also like to take my last 30 seconds or so and do a "sprint" - keep increasing the speed until I feel really pushed - but don't do this unless you're confident you can stop the machine and hop to the safety rails quickly, as it'll tire you out fast.

    I can't believe we're halfway through the month already! I'd better get going on those goals of mine...
