Seafood Extravaganza!

Tonight was a fun night... meaning, I didn't go to the gym. I was all set to go and then at the last minute changed my mind and went down to the beach instead. It was fun - the beach is a very steep incline down a few flights of stairs from my apartment. I walked down the steps, then down the pier on the beach and then went to a seafood restaurant and had some wine and a large plate of seafood.

I must say that I did make some very good choices while at the restaurant. In the past I would have been more than happy to order an enormous plate of nachos and a large variety of deep-fried junk! Not anymore - all I wanted was fresh, quality food and I got it! I had 1 glass of wine, 1 crantini, 6 prawns, 3 mussels, 2 oysters and 2 crab wontons. It was a cold seafood plate - meaning that none of the seafood was cooked in oil (all was raw) - it just had some dipping sauces on the side that I avoided. I also drank about 4 glasses of water - which was awesome.

Then, when all the fun was said and done, I walked home. In the past, I would be huffing and puffing on my way up those flights of stairs. Tonight - although I was sweating, I wasn't huffing and puffing anywhere near to the extent that I did when I was 233 pounds. I can really tell that I am in shape now and it feels good. I love that I am making good choices (even at restaurants) and no longer get out of breath at the sight of a flight of stairs.

Rewinding a bit here - yesterday at the hairdressers (and I have always disliked getting my hair cut), I didn't feel like I had a fat face any more. The thing I hate most about getting my hair cut is that once they put that hideous cape on you - you can really see how fat your face is. Yesterday I was pleasently surprised that I felt somewhat like ME again - and not just a fat face staring back at me in a hideous cape. Don't get me wrong, I am not there yet - but I am getting very close to seeing myself when I look in the mirror.

With a belly full of prawns and oysters - i'm off to read the rest of "Wicked" - again - such a wonderful book!

G'Night blogging buddies!
