Introducing Dr. Jacqueline and Mrs. Heidi

That's what my boyfriend often calls me because of my wildly up/ down mood swings. Today, I was the epitome of Dr. Jacqueline and Mrs. Heidi, Here's how today went down:

First I came home from work and just wanted to sit and stare into outer space, but then realized that I had to put something together for dinner.

I was outraged to open the fridge and find NOTHING that appealed to me. I then went off on a rant about how I work hard all day long, sacrificing my life to my work and is it to much to ask that I come home to at least something edible for dinner?

That of course was an extreme exaggeration as there was lots of food in the fridge - I just didn't feel like cooking!

So, off I went, for dinner I had 2 Laughing cow wedges of cheese on Wasa crackers, followed by a Fibre One granola bar. This is what I was going to call dinner.

Then I realized that I had to actually have something substantial - so I washed some lettuce, cut up some peppers and tomatoes and fixed myself a big salad.

Then, after lounging on the couch for a couple hours (NOT reading my textbook for the assignment that is due tomorrow), I figured that I was too lazy to go to the gym tonight.

Then I realized that no one ever lost 54 lbs by sitting on their fat arse and watching Wheel of Fortune and dragged by big ol' butt to the gym.

Got to the gym and was feeling like I had the strength of 10 men! I was determined to run faster and longer than I ever had before.

Got on the treadmill and ran for 8 minutes straight at a pace of 5.5 (a personal best) and getting my heart rate up to 191 b/m. I was feeling great until I saw a trailer on the tv at the gym promoting the release of Eclipse that comes out tomorrow.

After a half hour on the treadmill - having done 2.00 miles in 30 minutes, I decide to go into a heavy panic realizing that I haven't made any plans to go to the opening of Eclipse tomorrow (really - June 30th is Tomorrow! WTF?).

I immediately ran home and made some phone calls to arrange to see Eclipse tomorrow night.

There you have it folks - this is the mind of Dr. Jacqueline and Mrs. Heidi! Be thankful you're not in my head 24/7 - it's exhausting!

It's a good thing I went to the gym tonight as I'll be sitting in a movie theatre seat tomorrow watching Eclipse *hangs head in shame that she is a twilight fanatic at 25 years old*

Running Like the Wind

Okay, so maybe I didn't run as fast as wind - but - I did run tonight for 5 MINUTES STRAIGHT on the treadmill at a pace of 5.5!!!! I am so proud of myself! What's more - I didn't slow down because I was physically tired, I resumed to a walking pace after 5 minutes because mentally I couldn't push myself that far. Weird right? Well this is something I need to work on more next month: the mentality of running.

It's funny too, because when I was running I was thinking to myself, "this is great I can write my post tonight on how I ran for 4 minutes, oh but 5 minutes would be so much better than 4" and then I would push myself for another minute. I love how this blog inspires me and pushes me to do more. I never thought I would be an avid blogger because I consider myself a private person, but this little thing really holds me accountable for my actions - making myself answer to ... myself at the end of the day (and all of you of course).

I spent a lot of time today in awe over how much I have accomplished in the last 4 months! Seriously - 46 pounds gone! I can't even imagine what i'll look like at my goal weight. The funny part of this weight loss thing is that it isn't necessarily hard per se, the most difficult part of it is the commitment and dedication, if you have those two qualities the weight will just melt off your body. Luckily, I possess those qualities and have been fortunate to see some incredible results. But honestly, these last 4 months have flown by - I cannot believe it! Let's hope the next 54 lbs come off as easily as the first 45 did...

Another One Gone!

Today I woke up TIRED!

It's no surprise that I woke up both physically and mentally drained! I have been pushing myself like a dog for the past week - even Friday and Saturday I put in way too much work time and not enough "me" time. Both my mind and body wanted me to take today easy - so I listened and I did. I woke up at about 10 this morning, and literally sat around the house like a zombie all day, watching tv, did a little shopping, sitting and zoning out. By the time I came to, it was 7pm! That's what you get for pushing yourself too hard!

No gym tonight - but I did pop by the rec centre to weigh myself: 187 lbs! Down another pound. Not what I was hoping for - but couldn't expect much more as I spent a better part of the day veging out (on healthy food).

Now, all that's left to do is edit and submit a short paper and then continue to lay on the couch and watch TV. Tomorrow I will be back at 'er and giving it my all - but today is definitely a much needed day of rest.

Weekly Food Patrol Report: Happy to report that I more or less managed to stay in my daily points allowance of 25 points almost every day this week! I used most of my weekly points as well and didn't even touch my activity points! Yippie! Just as I planned! As a new week approaches, I have to keep this mentality going - can't let my food patrol guard down!

Saturday Night Boringness

As promised, I have nothing exciting going on this weekend. Thus, here I am on Saturday night: just got back from a 2 hour workout at the gym - which puts my cardio monthly goal at 30/40 cardio hours. I really thought I would be able to do 40 hours of cardio this month, guess the Toronto trip and all my "rest" days set me back a bit. That's not really the point though. I made this goal for myself so that I could find more and new ways of moving. In this sense, my goal was successful. I am now walking on my lunch hours at work, getting off the bus a few blocks from my stop, taking the stairs and, well... you get the picture.

Other exciting news: I had to go out and buy some smaller-sized pants today. Luckily I found a really great sale and picked up some dress pants in a size 12 and size 10! I'm going to be spending the rest of the night hemming my pants as I am a short little thing and stores don't make pants for us short folk (well - cheap pants at least). I am thrilled to be a size 12, but am even more excited to be approaching a size 10!!!! Last time I was a size 10 was when I was 19 and in college (before the discovery of the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy's ($1.39)).

The other day I went through the pile of jeans in the back of my closet. One pair fit me - but looked stupid (I hate skinny jeans), so I am going to huck them. There was also a pile of size 30 jeans that I can now get up and into - but the zipper wont go up. I'll give it anther 10 lbs gone and I bet they will fit (hoo-ray - I have no jeans at this current size!). I am really looking forward to being able to zip them suckers up!

Off to hem I go...

Eating for Health

Hello Friday - I am so happy you've finally arrived!

Not that the weekend being here even matters - I've got so much going on that I don't have time for fun :( This weekend will be full of homework and errands. Nothing more, nothing less.

On the upside - I more or less was able to stay within my daily points allowance this week (Weight Watchers) and have a total of 13.5 points available to use up this weekend. I've got to keep with this food patrol business though - if I am not focused, big portions of anything will end up on my plate. This is an eternal struggle for me! I'm learning though, practice makes perfect right.

Talking about food, I've been aiming to eat to satisfy my daily nutritional requirements as opposed to eating for deliciousness. Reviewing my food history made me realize that I eat WAY too much cheese - so have really cut that out this week (even though I love it). I do feel better physically when I don't consume large portions of it - I've run into this before and fear that I may be allergic to cheese. We'll see what Mr. Scale says about all this no-cheese business. I expect he'll like it.

Like today, for example, I had a rice-less stir fry with ground chicken and it was delicious!

Hope you all have a much more fun weekend planned than me!

What Does Lisa - 10 lbs = ?

What does a 10 pound difference look like on an overweight individual?

Can you spot the difference?

Here I am at approximately 200 lbs (plus or minus a pound):

Here I am today, at approximately 188 lbs (plus or minus a pound):

I find it difficult to see a difference in my body - but I can see that my shirt fits a little better.... I wonder what i'll look like at 178? Stay tuned, we'll be finding that out next month!

Finally got back to the gym tonight! Yippie!

Food Patrol: 25.5 points consumed today. Only 0.5 points off target... not too shabby!

The Caffeine Monster

As I have been short on funds, lately I have been getting my morning caffeine fix from Tim Hortons as opposed to Starbucks. This has saved me both Weight Watcher points as well as real dollars!

I am feeling a little guilty this morning as I have not been to the gym (my beloved) for two days in a row now. Last night I went to help a friend move- and it was good because I was sweating like a pig moving all those boxes around, but it was no high-intensity cardio workout like I am used to getting at the gym.

The good part of last night, my friends boyfriend commented on my weight loss, saying that I "looked healthy" and then winked at me, and I didn't feel like a total boob moving and sweating. In the past, in these types of situations, I would always feel like the fat kid, "doing her best" when helping people move, but last night I was just another one of the people moving boxes. I didn't feel out of place - which was a nice feeling.

Finally, things are really stressful over in my neck of the woods! I keep finding more white hairs on my head and have developed quite the dependancy on coffee this last little while after delving deep into my Masters Degree courses. It's some serious work this going to school part-time and working full-time AND working out everyday/ cooking healthy/ helping friends move/ and the list goes on.

I REFUSE to let this busy lifestyle I lead ruin any of the progess I have made on my weight loss. When I said goodbye to the 190's I meant it - I am never going back there - I don't care how much stress I am under!

Food Patrol: Yesterday I consumed 25 points! but then fell victim to 1 piece of BBQ pizza after the move and a sour key candy = 30 points total! Boo!

A Little Meditation Never Hurt Anyone

Tonight, I was a little too tired to to get my arse to the gym. I had a really long and stressful day at the office and just could not bring myself to meet up with Mr. Elliptical.

So, I decided to delve into the videos I bought over the weekend.

In an attempt to bring the workout home to me, I went crazy at London Drugs on Saturday and got a few workout videos - to concentrate more on the toning and stretching side of things (because I am crazy for cardio).

After fiddling around with the DVD player which decided to die the moment I wanted to use it, I went to the trusty old mac computer and popped one of those puppies in. First up: Yoga Meltdown with Jillian:

About 10 minutes into the routine, I decided that this was a little more cardio / fast-paced than I wanted tonight. Also learned that Jillian is much more fun to watch on TV than having her as a trainer (by way of video).

So, I turned that one off - not in the mood - nope sorry!

Now I am wondering about the other Jillian video I got: The 30 Day Shred:

All my weight watcher buddies use this shred video and talk about it with high regard - so I am going to give it a try - but it is still in the plastic wrap.

Since I wasn't in the mood for any hard-core nilly-willy, I popped in this Meditation for Beginners video.

This is exactly what the doctor ordered.

This meditation video was all about being mindful - which is something that I haven't really done in a long time. As soon as I started connecting my mind to my body, I began to feel the soreness in my knees, ankles and wrists. I have a tendency to ignore the pain in my joints, which is not good. This was a good reminder that I need to PAY ATTENTION to my body, especially since I do so many high-intensity cardio workouts.

One of my July goals will be to do this type of meditation at least once a week to remind my silly little self that I need to pay attention to my body a little more and be mindful of what my body is telling me.

Food Patrol today: 28 Points consumed (2 points over daily points allowance due to 10-point muffin from Tim Hortons that was consumed this morning - I had no idea it would be 10 points, live and learn my friends, live and learn!)

Rock On Gold Dust Woman

Last year I attended the Fleetwood Mac Reunion concert in Vancouver - Fleetwood Mac is my favourite band of all time. I bought this lovely t-shirt when I was there in the largest size they had: an XL.

Sadly, when I got home the t-shirt didn't fit me.

But today, I reached down into the depths of the back of my closet and put it on. And guess what.... it fits! So naturally, I had to break it in at the gym tonight:

And I rocked - oh I rocked on that elliptical for a full hour.

Food Patrol: 26 points consumed today.

On plan and rockin' it!

Hellllooooo 180's

Oh my gawd, oh my gawd, oh my gawd *jumps up and down*

I am sitting on top of the world tonight! Tonight, I weighed in at 188 lbs!

I couldn't believe that I made it into the 180's! Those of you who read my blog regularly know that I have been wanting to enter the 180's FOREVER! I am so thrilled. I did however be strategic about my weigh in tonight. Today I ate a very big lunch and small dinner so that when I stepped onto the scale it would be as low as possible - and it worked. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a 4 pound loss - I was *hoping* to get to 189! I smiled for my entire workout at the gym, like a fool. When I finished my hour-long cardio workout, I weighed myself again, just to be sure, and sure enough... 188 lbs came up on the scale again!

Immediately, I called my mom to tell her that I had lost a total of 45 pounds since I started this journey on March 1st - my mom told me that she was so happy for me and that I am her "hero" - I love my mom, she is so awesome. (After all she was the one who triggered this journey!). She then proceeded to tell me about how her size 4 arse needs to loose 20 lbs. I then cut the call short - seriously ma - your skinny arse doesn't need to lose any weight (guys, she's like 120 lbs!) Sheeesh!

And then of course, I had to rush to the computer to blog about my happiness in 180-land! Like holy shiet mo fo's!

Honestly though, I am lucky that I lost. Again this week, I over-ate my daily points everyday! This is a horrible habit I have gotten into and I think the only reason I am even losing is because I am being so active (seriously my ridiculous cardio goal this month has kicked me into high gear finding anyway and anywhere to get a workout in - which by the way is exactly what I wanted this goal to do).

So, that being said, next week - no overeating my daily points - I vow to stay within my daily points every day, Monday to Friday next week, then have a little fun on the weekend. After all, I do have to show this new saxy body off - other than at the gym that is!

With Bags and All

This morning I woke up in the mood to made a large vat of chicken chili - so I went over to Wal Mart and got the necessary ingredients, which of course includes many canned goods. That basket was so heavy!

When I got home, with the heavy bags in hand, I jumped on the scale with the bags to see how much I weighed with them in hand ( I figured that the bags weighed about as much as I had lost). But, to my surprise, my weight, with bags only came to 218lbs!

Those bags were soooo heavy, I am so blown away that I have managed to get rid of 40 LBS!!!! off my body- I can't even imagine carrying around that weight on me everyday, everywhere! It feels like it's been pretty quick as well, seems like just yesterday I re-committed to Weight Watchers.

I couldn't have made a better choice than getting my butt in gear. 40 lbs down, 60 lbs to go!!!

More Budge, Less Pudge

Ok bloggies, I think my pity party is pretty well over. I took a much needed vacation day today and got caught up with my homework, housework and spent some much needed quality time with ME!

I think this last week I have been stressing over the too many projects I opt to take on in life. I was really feeling it yesterday and was getting upset with myself and everyone around me - even the scale. My theme song yesterday was Adam Lambert's "What do you want from me". Today, I had the opportunity to breath and reflect and now feel much better and ready to get back to my busy chaotic life!

Today I managed to get a 1.5 hour long beach walk in (it was sunny out and awesome!) AND, I made it to the gym for a 1/2 hour to do a mini elliptical workout. I even did 10 minutes of weights to mix it up a little too.

I feel really good today and the best part = Mr. scale says I weigh 190! Such a relief. Now, if it can just stay there or go a little lower by Sunday night, I will be a very, very happy girl.

Just as a note, today was the first day where I actually looked in the mirror and saw a considerable difference in my body. My arms and chest are much more slender, by back fat is minimal, stomach is much, much less pregnant-like, my face is so slender I look like a completely different person, and of course my legs (i've commented on them pups before) are beautiful.

It's really hard for me to imagine what my body will look like at 130 lbs. Last time I think I weighed that much I think I was 10. It's weird because 130 lbs is at the top of a "healthy weight" chart for my height - but I just don't see how I can get to that weight (in a healthy way) without cutting off my leg.

One step at a time though - first I need to get into the 180's.

Just Budge Already!

Man oh man, I am getting pretty tired of being in the 19X lb range. I have literally been working my butt off to get into the 180s for the past month! I would say that I have definitely plateaued - not happy about it.

Tonight, out of curiousity sake, I jumped on the scale and found the number 193 looking back up at me. Pretty angry over this. Seriously, why is this taking so long - I know everyone will say, but Lisa - sometimes the scale does not reflect everything, take measurements, look at your body.... yada yada yada. I know, I know - I am just dying to be in the 180s and am grumpy over it - using my blog as a venting space.

Perhaps what is stalling my weight loss is the fact that I have not been as scheduled with my activity and eating as I have been in the past. Dont get me wrong, I still track, stay within my points and exercise like a mother - this new unscheduled thing is just part of my relatively new desire to start being more liberal, flexible and free with my time. *sigh* perhaps routines are the best - maybe I should go back to the schedule of working out at the gym from 9 - 10 pm and eating the same thing (more or less) everyday.

Just a little discouraged from my friend the scale is all - just want that middle number to budge already!

*End of Rant*

New Favorite Snack

I've discovered a new snack that I just love - Laughing Cow Light Cheeses (2 wedges) on Wasa Crackers.

Oh man is this ever good. It's three points and totally satisfies my "snacky" urges - plus it is a dairy and whole grain serving for the day:

Lately I've been feeling like I haven't been getting my fair share of fruits and veggies, so have incorporated much more of them into my diet. Like today, for example, I'll be having an orange for a snack this morning and Carrots with Tzatziki (spell?) for lunch as well as a bunch of fruit I'll be picking up from a meeting I have to attend this morning.

See:

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

And for dinner a chicken and veggie rice-less stir fry! This day is full of potential - now I just have to live up to it!

Thought You Were The Skinny Girl Across the Room - No Big Deal....

These days I am finding it really difficult to stay within my Weight Watchers daily points allowance of 26 points. For some reason there are just so many things I want to eat everyday. I think my mini-trip to Toronto may have thrown me off a little bit - now all I want to do is eat. That being said - today I ate myself 29 points and instead of going to the gym, I went for a long walk on the beach right before the sun set. It was beautiful and my little peddy told me that I walked a total of 3.3 miles. So Ill take it - I did a lot last night and dont want to be the crazy gym girl (too late for that).

Today at work I had to go to this reception where the big wig was making a speech to us common folk. I went with my secretary and somehow we got seperated in the crowd during the big wig speech. When I met up with the secretary after the speech, she said was surprised because she said that she thought she saw me standing across the room. I told her that no, in fact, I was only a coule feet behind her for the whole speech. She then pointed to another girl across the room and told me that she thought that the girl on the other side of the room was me.

And guess what... the girl she thought was me was slender!

I was so flattered (a little silly I know), but I couldnt believe that I was mistaken for a skinny girl! Totally boosted my confidence and put my secretary into my good books.

Tomorrow will need to be another gym night - aiming for a 45 minute walk at lunch hour, then a 1.5 hour cardio workout at the gym. How am I ever going to reach my monthly goal of 40 cardio hours for June when we are half way through the month and Ive only got 16.5 out of 40. time to pick up the pace and get my arse in gear!

Reaching Goals Left, Right and Centre

That is right! I am back and I am reaching my goals tonight!

After I got over my pitty party from yesterday I decided to shape up and regain control (with a little help from my blogging buddies). At work today I spent my lunch hour doing a power walk for 30 minutes, then tonight I went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the elliptical and 55 minutes on the treadmill.

But wait, there's more.

I reached TWO of my monthly goals tonight at the gym:

1.) I increased the resistance on the elliptical machine to 7 (from 6) and was able to complete the whole elliptical workout at 7!

2.) I ran - oh I ran! I have no idea where it came from, I was on the treadmill for about 30 minutes then just decided that I wanted to reach my goal of running at 5.5 for two full minutes straight - and I did. I could not believe that I did it - I was running with a big stupid smile on my face and felt great - so great that I continued to run. In all, I ran for THREE minutes straight at a pace of 5.5. I have no idea if it was because I was watching Losing It with Jillian or because the 90 lb girl next to me was running for 45 minutes at a pace of 8.8 (yes - I looked at her machine while she was running) - but I did it and I feel like a million bucks!

I hate that I get into funks - it is so easy to forget how great it feels when you accomplish your goals and take charge of your life.

I am back and have kicked this thing into high gear - no more pitty party for me!

Also, I managed to stay on plan today with my eating and as I type this - I have no urge to do some late night snacking (something I have proven I am really good at).

Operation Rescuing Lisa = 1

Lazy, unhealthy Lisa = 0.

Falling Down the Staircase

What's that saying? Just because you miss a step doesn't mean you have to throw yourself down the whole staircase?

Well, tonight, not only did I not go to the gym, but I also kept on eating and eating after dinner. Had I stopped after the stirfry, I would have consumed a mere 27 points for the day. But, I just kept dragging my zombie ass to the kitchen.

45 points later - here I am. Tomorrow, I'll be getting this fat arse back on track and will actually get to the gym and stay on plan.

Blue and battered from my fall, but getting up and getting back on that landing.

Looks like Monday got the better of me.

A Bad Case of the Grumpies and Looking Hawt

Today, for some reason I was a stress case. I was grumpy and frazzled and just plain neurotic. I don't know why - the only thing I have coming up in the near future is a vacation (which is going to be epic), so i'm not sure why I felt this way all day today. I came home, picked up a Wendy's chili and baked potato on the way home (13 points) and scarfed that down then went to the gym (after a long internal struggle of "maybe I should stay home and rest - no, I 'll go"). I finally dragged my fat arse to the gym and did 35 min on the bike and 25 min on the treadmill.

As a reward for getting to the gym and completing my workout successfully, I'm going to indulge in a small bag of light popcorn tonight while I watch some 90's comedy shows. I feel much less stressed now, especially with the prospect of what I'm settling in to do tonight.

Also, today I felt (physically) hawt. I fit into all my cute little work clothes again (had to pull out from the back of my closet) and I feel like my body is starting to get back to smokin'. I love how awesome I feel. I got all gussied up in black (the official slimming effect) and took my picture to show all you good folks out there in blog world what i'm talking about:

Strike a pose:

Waiting for a day when I feel physically, emotionally and intellectually fabulous all at the same time... please let that day be just around the corner...

Sweat Proof... errr Not Really

Finally! A good night at the gym tonight - managed to put in 100 minutes of elliptical and sweat like there is no tomorrow. I feel fantastic and ready for a little cardio break - but, no can do until the Toronto trip this Friday. Really, only two more days of cardio before I have a 3-day break. For tomorrow and Thursday, I plan to do 1 hour of cardio each day.

Don't you just hate it when you are at the gym and there are skinny (like 90 lbs) girls running for hours on the treadmill in front of you in cute little outfits and no sweat on them at all? Man, I get so jealous, first, because I am not skinny, second, because I can't "run" on the treadmill, thirdly, because I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on cute workout attire (seriously, tonight I wore my Nike Grade 9 PE shirt (1999)) and lastly, because I sweat like a mother when I work out. Not kidding- seriously, check it out:

In food news, I only went over my daily points allowance by 2 points today. I feel like I have to really focus on food right now as last week was a bit out of control and I really want to see a loss on that scale next week when I weigh in. About two years ago when I lost about 40 lbs, I stopped trying at about the same weight I am now. I am DETERMINED to not make the same mistake I did last time and go back to being unhealthy. I want to get into the 180's so badly, and I know my weakness: food portions. So, Day 1 of portion control: Check!

And She Wonders Why...

Seriously, I wonder why I stayed the same at my last weigh in - well, maybe it's because I over ate my daily points allowance every day last week:

I need to refocus here - the reason why I gain weight is not because of a lack of exercise or eating bad foods in particular - it's because I over eat my portions. Therefore, this week, I am going on Portion Control! And will be staying within my Daily Points allowance (26/day) every day this week until I leave for Toronto on Friday.

Bran Buds = Fail

So, as I mentioned in yesterdays post, I ate the much talked about bran buds for breakfast with some mocha yogurt I had left in the fridge this morning while getting ready for my Monday... and it was SO DISGUSTING that I ACTUALLY PUKED.

I had one bite of it and immediately gagged and then rushed to the washroom to throw-up, so that was a total fail. I think I'll wait a little while before experimenting with these "bran" cereals again (which won't be anytime soon).

It even looks gross (why, oh why did I eat it!):

Lesson learned - Bran cereal is not for me!

On a better note, this ridiculous activity goal I have set for myself this month has really been pushing me to go the extra mile (literally). Today, on my lunch break I went for a brisk 45 minute walk, which was lovely because it got me out of the office, and even better since traffic on the highway made my commute home 3 hours long! Which means I don't have time to go to the gym tonight (just not enough hours in the day)! So I'm happy that I got some activity in. I find that I am always looking for little ways throughout the day to get more cardio in - which is awesome because it is helping me develop some healthy activity habits - loving it!

Managed to stay mostly on plan today (only over by 0.5 of a point) yippie. Leaving you with an image of what I ate for dinner (I am in love with rice-less stir-fry's right now). ALSO, this is the best rice-less stir-fry I have had in a long, long time because I added two wedges of laughing cow cheese slices to the sauce (2 laughing cow cheese slices and 10 teaspoons of Nando's peri-peri sauce - so good they named it twice). This sauce is almost like an alfreado sauce (but better because it doesn't give me a stomach ache) so creamy and delicious:

Sooooo delicious!

WI Results and Trying New Things

A few things to note for today:

1.) Bloggette Cass over at Findingmybeauty always talks about her "Bran Buds" that she has in the morning and swears that they are what keep her slim and trim, so, I decided to give them a try. Got some bran buds on Saturday and had them this morning, and have to admit that they ain't that bad (i'm not cereal's biggest fan) and I think I'm going to have them atop some yogurt tomorrow morning and see if it works miracles on me like it has on Cass...

2.) Weigh in tonight results: I STAYED THE SAME. Not going to deny that I am a little disappointed, I was hoping to get to at least 193 so that I could say I had lost 40 pounds (39 lbs just doesn't have the same ring to it) *sigh* I know exactly what it was too - I ate all my weekly and activity points this week because I was so hungry all the time (too much activity maybe?) No bad choices though - here's to hoping that next week will be a big loss in light of tonight's results.

3.) Lastly, I did another awesome workout at the gym, 75 minutes on the elliptical tonight, and got an excellent sweat going on, see how gross and sweaty I got:

Yup - pretty gross if you ask me!

I've Got to Keep on Moving

Didn't break my stride at all today! I ran around running errands all morning like a crazy person - like literally ALL morning. I left the apartment at 8:00 am and didn't get home until 4:00pm! THEN, I put on my little pedometer and decided to take advantage of this lovely weather on BC's westcoast and did a 2 hour walk along the beachfront! It was excellent - even ran into a few old friends and made dates for catch-up with them in the future. For these little breaks in the walk, I deducted 1/2 hour off my "timed" time to be fair.

This is the pedometer I own (it's the 'walking advantage' (fancy!):

See, I walked a lot (this is just for the beach walk, and it's backwards!) - the proof is in the pedometer!

(over 13,000 steps and 6.3 miles!)

THEN, I got home and put on my gym gear and went to the gym. I don't know where I found the energy, but I managed to put in a 90 minute elliptical workout (and sweated like a pig!).

So, all in all today - I got 3 hours of cardio in! This is excellent considering I'll be in Toronto for 3 days later this week and wont be able to get in any cardio workouts. Although, I hear it's hot over in that part of the country, so maybe the humidity will sweat the fat off my body (a girl can only dream - right?)

Drunkin' "Me" Time

Yeppers Bloggies,

I finally took a "me night": drank a bottle of wine, had a healthy dinner and watched a romantic comedy in bed.

FYI - Leap Year is horrible - I wouldn't recommend it (even to us Irish folk).

This is how my night started:

Wine:

and then Dinner (rice-less stir-fry):

Oh - and a couple babybels.... nom nom nom:

I feel a tad guilty for not working out tonight - but my legs are telling me that they're tired and need a break.

So, tomorrow, I'll be up bright and early to get a cardio workout in.

Time to pass out! Night!

My Day is Like... A Roller Coaster Baby Baby

Today was a roller coaster of good and bad, here's how it went down:

After work I went to Subway to grab a quick dinner and ran into my high school crush (who is super cute and nice and now I remember why I liked him so much all those years ago). Anyways I saw him for the first time in a couple years and felt happy that I wasn't 233 pounds when he saw me. I showed you all my outfit today (green shirt, etc) - that's what I was wearing when I went into Subway, so I felt pretty confident about my looks - but he said nothing - no, "Lisa you look good" or anything which made me a little sad. So that was both a good and a bad moment.

Then, I was planning on having a "me" night, which involves a bottle of wine and a movie in bed for the night (with Subway), but when I got home I thought to myself - "Lisa, remember how you felt today when high school crush didn't mention anything about how good you look *sigh*", so I called up a good friend and asked her to go walk the beachfront with me. She told me she was on her way home from work and would be at my house in 30 minutes. Instead of sitting around and waiting for her, I dragged my arse to the gym and did a 20 minute elliptical workout, then when I got home we did a 2 hour walk.

BUT, halfway through our walk we succumbed to temptation and ate some brushetta at a local waterfront restaurant (so delicious) which I count as 12 points (yikes!) and therefore I counted my walk tonight as an hour and 10 minutes as the other 50 minutes were spent savoring delicious bread and tomatoes!

So the ups:
- I went to the gym
- I went for a long walk (with severe hills)
- Saw a good friend
- Didn't eat deep-fried food
- Saw an old crush
- I didn't snack at all today

And the downs:
- I couldn't make it through my walk without stopping for a bite to eat
- I didn't order a salad: I ate bread, cheese and oil! (12 points)
- I went over my daily points allowance
- My high school crush didn't say anything about how good I look
- I had cheese on my Subway sandwich
- Stayed out too late walking and am now going to be very tired for work tomorrow

So there you have it, my roller coaster day. I'm pooped!

She's Got Legs, and She Knows How to Use Them

Last night I was the Queen of grumpiness. I got home from work and all I felt like doing was lounging on the couch, vegging out and taking a break from having to be mindful of anything and everything.

Since my June goal is to gather 40 hours of cardio workouts (what a crazy frickin' goal!) and I had already done 2 hours on the 1st, I began giving myself excuses not to get my fat arse to the gym.

Finally, at about 8:30pm I decided that I should just go and do it and quit my whining.

While at the gym, I managed to get a peek of myself walking by the muscle men who were admiring themselves in the mirrors on my way to the cardio area and was like, "whoa - my legs are so skinny" and actually thought to myself, "I am bringing sexy back - yeah!" This gave me enough motivation to get myself going and get a great workout in. I managed to do 60 minutes on the treadmill walking at a pace of 3.1 - 3.5 for the full hour. In total I walked just over a 5K in the hour and had a good sweat going (keeping my heart rate in the target zone). All in all I felt good! So good in fact that I'll be back there again tonight, working my butt off!

Here's a teaser sample of my legs (cause I know how to use them):

Also want to share another photo, as I mentioned I went shopping last weekend (because hardly any of my clothes fit me anymore) and picked up a few tops. One such top is this booger green hippie-style shirt I got (on sale) from RW & Co (my favourite store in the whole wide world), check it out:

Lastly, although I am liking the way that my lower half is evolving, I'm still having difficulties with my mid-section, upper body and my neck! Check out my wattle:

I totally need to get rid of this. It's gross and bothers the carp out of me.

Leaving you with a little inspiration today:

Doin' it for ME

Philosophizing over a Yop this morning:

I've been thinking a lot these last few days about what is it that is making me lose weight and STICK TO IT this time around. I've concluded that the reason why I have been so successful this time around, and have stuck to both my eating and activity plans for the past three months is because I've simply decided that I want to do this for me, no one else, just me.

I have a few friends who are struggling with weight and other additions, and the only ones who have learned to manage their food / alcohol addictions are the ones who decided that they wanted to make a life change for themselves. These kind of things (life changes) you cannot do for anyone else because at the end of the day, if you care more about overeating than you do about being healthy, then you'll have your head in the fridge until the cows come home.

The bottom line in all of this - if you really want it for you - then you make it happen, no excuses. The want evolves into desire, which rotates into motivation which is the guiding factor of you staying on plan and achieving your goals. This is what I have found anyway and it appears to be working in a big way.

Looking Good and June Goals

Happy June everyone. I can't believe June is already here, how quickly the months fly by when you're losing weight (NOT!)

Over the weekend, I went shopping and purchased my very first print top (I know, it's hard to believe, but in the past I have always felt that wearing prints (as a fat girl) made me feel bigger - like I was wearing a moo-moo).

Well, moo-moo-no-more!

Yuppers, I am looking fine in a print top today (new from Rickis - size 12! purchased over the weekend on sale!)

Now, June 1 = June goals. Here they are:

JUNE 2010

1.) Break the 190's and get into the low 180's

2.) Fit comfortably into my size-12 black dress pants.

3.) Increase Elliptical resistance to 7 by July 1.

4.) Run an organized 5K in Vancouver

5.) Be able to run without stopping at a speed of 5.5 on the treadmill for 2 full minutes.

6.) Complete a total of 40 hours of cardio workouts for the month of June

Reward for Completing All Goals: Travel! Mini weekend trip with Friends or Family

I had a hard time trying to figure out what my cardio workout hours (total for the month) should be. I feel like 40 hours is challenging, but still attainable, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I love setting beginning of month goals. So much fun and even more fun when you reach them!
