July Goals: Summary!

Wow, I can't believe that July is over already - time to buy a new month's pass at the gym!

So, let's see how I did on my July goals.... errr... I don't think this is going to be good.

JULY GOALS 2010

1.) Break out of the 180's and get to 175 lbs:
DIDN'T REACH 175... BUT WILL HAVE THE OFFICIAL WEIGH IN RESULTS TOMORROW TO POST. EXPECTING (AKA "HOPING FOR" 179 AT LEAST)

2.) Fit comfortably into my size-12 black dress pants.
THEY FIT! BUT UNFORTUNATELY GIVE ME THE "MUFFIN TOP"

3.) Be able to run without stopping at a speed of 5.5 on the treadmill for 10 full minutes.
FAIL

4.) Be able to do 2.5 miles on the treadmill in under 30 minutes.
- July 17th - did 2.5 miles in 40 minutes... uh oh...
NOPE! CARRY OVER INTO AUGUST!

5.) Do yoga at the rec centre at least 5X this month:
Class #1: July 15th - 1 hr
Class #2: July 19th - 1 hr
Class #3: July 22nd - 1 hr
Class #4: July 29th - 1 hr

ONLY 4 CLASSES - BOO TO ME FOR GETTING A LATE START ON THIS!

Reward for Completing All Goals:
NEW RUNNING SHOES!

NO SHOES DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DIDN'T REACH ANY OF MY GOALS- NOT EVEN 1!

Lets hope next months goals go much better than this month's went!

Slump

Yikes! I am in a bit of a slump over here. Today, not only did I not exercise (like this entire last week), I also did not stay on plan (weight-watchers wise). I've been a bad girl - even had some cream cheese today. Where did my discipline go? Well, wherever it went, I need to find it again!

If you've seen my discipline anywhere in virtual space, please send me an email and let me know. I need to find it!

Tomorrow - I am committing myself to doing (at the very least) a one hour walk outside (the beach perhaps).

Really want to get into the 170's at weigh in tomorrow. Hopefully this off-track stint won't prohibit from me from achieving this.

More to come tomorrow...

Taking Some Good Advice

While reading through my favourite blogs a couple days ago, I came across this post by Once Upon a Time... In the Land of Cheese and Sunkist, in particular, #14 on her list:

"14. What you give, comes back to you. What you take...that comes back as well. Make sure you give more than you take."

Now, I have heard this a million times in many different contexts, but sitting on my computer reading it a few short days ago, it triggered an "ah ha" moment for me.

See, I have felt like quite the martyr lately - "woe it me", "why does this shiet always happen to me".... Well, duh Lisa - you get what you put in. And frankly, I really have been all about me this last little while - no wonder the universe is throwing me all sorts of shiet bags.

I've honestly been thinking about this over the last couple days after reading this post and it's made me want to make a change in my attitude. While still focusing on me (because you can't help anyone unless you help yourself first), I want to start making a conscious effort to genuinely give a lot more, to friends, family, strangers, fellow bloggers, and the like.

I have to consciously put this mentality at the forefront of my brain and thoughts. Also, I do want to leave this world having contributed more than I took.

Furthermore, at Yoga tonight - the instructor did this neat little visualization activity - stating that if we have a positive attitude in our hearts and in our souls, that positive attitude will spew over into our conscious and unconscious actions.

These are two related pieces of advice/ ways of living that I I feel I need to embrace in life - to be a better person, and, as karma would have it, to live a better, more rewarding life.

Just Call Me Anna Kournikova

That's right friends! I've been a regular at the tennis courts lately - let me tell you, tennis is a great workout and has been a great break from my regular gym routine. There are tennis courts right near my house, so I've been dragging a friend along lots and i've been practicing my serves and grunts. I think tennis is, in part, what I should be thanking for the new definition that's been appearing in my arms. Check out my blog post from yesterday and take a look at those before and after photos! I can really see a difference in my arms - no doubt both the tennis and the yoga have played a part in that.

Just want to brag a little here: Today I felt "fit", I mean, I was speed walking up hills and reaching for those tennis balls (and hitting them). I now feel comfortable classifying myself as "athletic" - and it feels good!

Now, if only my body looked like Anna Kournikova's... I'm getting there.... I'm getting there....

I'm Shrinking!

Back in June, I did a before and after post and said that I would post another "after" picture when I got to around 180lbs... Well, here I am at 180 lbs. So, As promised:

Here I am at approximately 200 lbs:

Then at approximately 190 lbs:

Now at approximately 180 lbs:

I can really see the difference now - what a difference 20 lbs makes on my body! Crazy!

Walk It Off Lisa!

Finally! I broke the funk I've been in - I went out and did some cardio and got my sweat on! My body loved it - I feel great again. It's hard to describe, but I always feel "fresh" after a cardio workout. I just love the feeling.

Managed to do a 5 mile walk in 1 hour 45 minutes with a good friend along the waterfront and climb some pretty steep hills on the way back (awesome). I convinced her to go to Yoga with me on Thursday night, which is good, because I am starting to love yoga again!

See, the Peddy don't lie:

(Thank you Fat Girl vs. World: no more backwards photos here!)

After I got home from my super long walk, I concluded that this post-workout feeling is better than any feeling that stuffing my face with any kind of food would give me. I'm still very angry at myself for letting myself get that much out of control, that obese, that fat! I would literally binge until I could no longer eat. Then I would get horribly sick, and 1/4 of the time it would result in me throwing up - either from being too full, or I had managed to poison myself. This sounds really twisted, I realize that - but a short 5 months ago, this was me.

I love that I've embraced this new lifestyle and have begun to put myself first in life. I know I can't change the past - but I spent most of my 25 years overweight or obese. Why did it take me so long to snap out of it and take control of my life? I still cannot figure out why it was that I did this to myself - why did I binge and over-eat? What underlying psychological problem lead me to this? I would consider myself a fairly strong individual / personality, I didn't choose to lose weight so that I could "find myself" or figure out the "real me". I already know who I am and really like the person I've turned out to be in life. So why then did I torture myself with food.

Still a mystery to me. Waiting for that "ah ha" moment to strike...

New Breakfast / Chili Recipe

You want to know what's weird, for the last three weeks I have busy like a mo fo, and now that my life has resumed at a normal pace, I find that I've gotten lazy. Take, for example, last night. I could of easily gone to the gym and put in a cardio workout - but instead I sat on the couch and watched TV - like - seriously - what's up with that. I seriously need to give myself a much needed kick in the pants to get up and get moving! It's almost like I feel like "I deserve a break" from fitness after my 3-week long intensive course (during which I did make the time to workout) - again, here I am playing the victim card with myself. Oh internal struggles, when will I grow out of this!

So, that explains the no post from last night - I was too busy sitting on my fat arse watching the tube!

New day - new attitude - right?

So, lately, I've really taken to having these Greek yogurt / honey / granola parfaits from Starbucks for breakfast:

Yum, these are good - a little high in points (6 Weight Watcher points) - but they are tasty, they keep me full all morning and I can pick it up on the way to work. For me, thats a 3/3. Not something I would eat every morning, as they do have a lot of fat, but it's something I would classify as a special "treat" breakfast.

_____________________________________________________

Now, what you've all been waiting for - the Chili recipe.

I have to admit, I don't make this myself, this is something my boyfriend makes for us all the time (you should know - I DON'T COOK)

So, I pleaded with him - telling him, "PLEASE MY READERS ARE ON A "NEED TO KNOW" BASIS HERE"

And this is what he told me:

1 can mexi-stewed tomatoes
1 can Heinz chili beans
1 package of old el paso chili seasoning
1 can of chick peas
A boat load of mushrooms (not necessary - but we LOVE mushrooms)
1 chopped red pepper
1 chopped green pepper
1/2 white onion
3 cloves garlic
Franks Hot Sauce (to taste - we like it HOT)
1 package of extra lean ground turkey meat

Brown the turkey in wok, then add the seasoning to cover the meat - then dump everything in there, let stew for about 2 and 1/2 hours on medium heat.

Then - add non-fat plain greek yogurt on top (of your individual bowl for serving) - oh yum - those of you who like Mexican out there will rejoice when you eat this! Plus - there's so much food here that we eat it for days. Cook once - eat three times!

Happy cooking all!

Off the Rails!

Yikes! Today was another not-so-great eating day for me - and I didn't make it to the gym due tot the fact that I was sick as a dawg all day :(

I did, however, get my arse to the gym to do the official weigh-in... and after some fluctuations between 180 and 179, the scale settled on 180. I suppose I deserve this given all the over-eating I did this week and the lack of cardio I put in! I guess Yoga is to thank for the 1 lb loss.

Lately I've just been slipping back into my over-eating ways. At least I'm not gorging on things like cheese and pasta - but more things like blueberries and wasa crackers.

I need to get this back under control, it's time to pull the reins in a little harder. My grad course is now done (3 weeks of intensive course work and I'm 3 credits closer to my Masters Degree!!!) - so now I really have no excuses to slack off!

I've made a pledge to go without cheese this entire week. Cheese is one of those foods that I wear (right on my arse). Therefore no cheese = no fat arse... right?

Looking forward to the start of a fresh week - I need it!

For the Love of Cheetos

So, I finally got my fat arse back to the gym today and it felt good to get all sweaty and gross! Stepped on the scale to see where I am at this week - uh oh... 183 lbs! I know where the 2 lbs have come from too - it's all this over-eating I've been doing! Again! You would think i'd of learned from last week! No such luck.

My new favourite snack - 100 calorie bags of baked cheetos - man oh man do I miss eating a large bag of cheetos to myself on Saturday nights then waking up with a Cheetos hangover the next morning.

To tell you the truth, right now my heart is more into Cheetos than it is in losing weight / eating right / exercising.

Luckily I have a brain and my brain is making me stay committed. But honestly, my heart is just not in it. I guess I am just having one of "those months" you know?

PS - I'm going to get and post the turkey chili recipe from my boyfriend - as he is the one who makes it for me :)

Might as Well Face it - I'm Addicted to Turkey Chili

I'm addicted to Turkey Chili with Chick Peas - holy smokes is this ever good (not to mention healthy).

It's pretty points-heavy though, because it's loaded with kidney beans and chick peas.

Seriously, chili has been the one staple for me in this diet, I must eat it at least 3 times week. It's so yummy, filling, cheap to make and satisfying.

Loving Yoga, But Missing Cardio

I am all over the map (again!).

My eating habits lost control yesterday with a large order of sushi and prawn tempura. I ate 55 points worth of Japanese food last night - which I am regretting because today I peeked at the scale and it told me I weigh 182 lbs - yikes!

Even today, I over ate with dinner - I had a huge bowl of turkey chili (loaded with beans) and this moring (having to wake up at 4:45am!) I had WAY too much coffee... I am losing my balance...

So I went to yoga to refocus and find my balance in this whole process again - which, as I prediced helped me a great deal. I am however, really missing my cardio workouts. I havent been to the gym since last Sunday and am feeling like I really need to get my sweat on!

Heres to hoping that Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the gym will break the scale into the 170s... cross your fingers for me...

I have a question for anyone who is reading - what is key to you keeping balance in your life - what does your weight loss balancing act look like.

Oh Ya, I'm Fat

I've been so proud of myself and so self-righteous, that I completely didn't realize that I am STILL FAT!

I've been walking around, thinking to myself, I'm doing good, I've lost 50 lbs, that's a great accomplishment, but I keep forgetting that I am still very much overweight and still have another 50 lbs to lose! I have to not lose sight of this, and recognize that yes, I have accomplished a lot, but it's not time to pop the champagne yet...

It all started on the bus today, when a very large women got on, I felt sad for her, putting myself in her shoes and remembering what it was like to feel that way. But then I was hit by reality - um... Lisa, who do you think you are, Ms. Skinny pants? No. Really, who am I to judge? I am still very much over weight, heck, some people's starting weight in Weight Watchers is less than my current weight.

I tend to get ahead of myself: Must remember - I'm still fat and am not at the finish line yet... gotta keep on truckin' and not judge others...

Just Chillaxin'

Taking the night off from exercise tonight and just chillaxin'.... so this is what "normal" feels like?

Stayed on plan (food-wise) today and am feeling really great. Tonight I needed a break from Subway (which I eat at about 3 - 5 times / week) and tried the much talked about "extreme pita". I must say - I love their Market Fresh pita with tzatziki. Going to have to incorporate Extreme Pita into my weekly take-out options on a more permanent basis - yum!

Tomorrow it's back to the gym and back to reality.

Forgot How Hard Yoga Can Be

So today I wandered into my yoga class all confident and such, but then, quickly realized that this teacher likes "flow yoga". For me, this form of yoga is super hard as it requires much more strength in your arms and mid-section. As you all know, the only thing I'm good at is cardio - so this class was a huge challenge for me. But I did it, came out sweating and panting like a dawg (especially after doing about 20 sun salutations and holding downward dog for about 2 minutes each time!) - but I did it. 2 Yoga classes down, 3 more to go to meet my monthly goal!

These yoga classes are a friendly reminder of how much I HATE strength training. I absolutely LOATHE it. I have no idea why - cardio is just as mundane as strength training - if not more mundane - ??? But seriously, I do need to keep up with this strength training activity, and I think Yoga is just the class to do it.

Today was a good eating day - I had a rather big bowl of turkey chili for dinner tonight - but I had a small lunch and blueberries for a snack. All and all, this week is off to a good start! I really want to see 17_ lbs on the scale next week - so I'm really going to push myself to make that happen.

This week is also the last week of my summer intensive grad seminar. Man oh man, three weeks of 3 hour classes a day and 8 hour working days after class is tough work - not to mention I have to write a 12 page paper for next Monday and have a 45 presentation on Thursday - did I mention I hate presentations!?! All I have to do is just power through this week and then... ahhhh - the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter... so close....

Can you believe we are already half way through July? This summer is just zipping by me! I haven't had a moment yet to stop and smell the roses, I'm going to have to pencil "stop and smell the roses" in at the start of August in my calendar.

I'm also trying to convince my brother to run an 8K with me up in Kelowna in October - but we'll see about that - seeing as I currently can only run 2.5 miles in 40 minutes! Yikes - got to shave some time off that and improve my speed if I am to keep up with my athletic little bro.

Another 3 lbs gone... Another week of Over-eating!

The good news: I now weigh 181 lbs! yip yip! That's a 3 lbs weight loss for this week! Next week - I'll be in the 170's! I haven't been in the 170's for about 4 years, so needless to say, I am pretty excited about it!

Update from the yoga class taken on Thursday night: my abs and stomach muscles are KILLING me! This is good because it means I worked those muscles hard! That's the area I need more 'definition' around on my body - so yoga's something I need to continue doing!

Now for the bad news: I can't stop overeating! Believe it or not, I overate my weight watcher points this week by 26 points! Yikes! What is wrong with me? I need to stop talking about it and just do it - get back into the game and on plan! Tomorrow is the start of a new week and I WILL be on plan next week - I have to!

Weigh-In Prediction for Tomorrow Night

I'm predicting a 3 pound loss.

I'm aiming for 180 lbs, but I think I'll only be able to make it to 181 lbs. But, you never know - the power of positive thinking people!

180, 180, 180.... 170's are just around the corner! Unbelievable! I may just make my July goal and get to 175 lbs. Sooo close!

Feelin' Like a Fool With My Pants on the Ground

My size-12 pants are a little on the too-snug for me to wear at this point - so I am stuck with wearing size-14 pants to work, but they are just too big for me.

Today, was the last straw - I look silly and am feeling like a fool. When I caught a glimpse of my lower half in the mirror today, this is what I saw:

Seriously, these are no longer wear-able! Just look at how big they are on me - no wonder they wont stay up!

I've got to find some solution to this by Monday (besides wearing my LuLu's to work).

Also, I am having a lazy day today (yes - again!) and am not going to make it to the gym tonight. I will, however, go to the gym tomorrow morning and then to yoga! I've got the entire day dedicated to writing my paper! Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!

YOGA!!!

Yoga is my most favourite activity! Today I finally took the leap and did my first yoga class in about one and a half years! It was like riding a bike and let me tell you I feel sooo fantastic! Yoga always makes me feel awesome (even better than I feel after a cardio workout at the gym). It really is a workout for the mind, spirit and body.

Here I am in beginner tree pose:

hee hee...

Like yoga, today I spent a lot of time thinking about how much easier life is with 50 less pounds on my body. Even as I was walking home from work, with the sun beating on me and my book bag swung across my shoulder, lugging my fat arse up the hill, I was struggling less to just move! Everyday life is no longer tiresome as I found it to always be at 233 lbs!

Friends, making the commitment to lose weight and sticking to it is SO WORTH IT! Life is better when you are healthy - there are less obstacles and things I love doing, such as yoga, are once again a possibility for me. I can bend again!

Namaste bloggies.

Blueberry Bonanza!

Blueberries! They are on sale and I went N.U.T.S. today over them - I bought a whole crate on my lunch hour - yes a whole CRATE!

Blueberries are brain food, and gawd knows I need to increase my smartness over then next couple weeks weeks while I write my very first grad-level paper, so I am loading up on Blueberries and water:

This is all part of my recent attempt to eat more fresh fruits and veggies and less processed crap (an on-going battle). In fact last night I had a greek salad (yum) and I ate 15 points worth of it (2 big-bowl helpings)! Good thing I had those points available - but if I am going to "overeat" I should be doing it with fruits and veggies and not things like Chili and rice!

I'm planning on playing tennis tonight - if not tennis - then definitely off to the gym! Too bad my gym doesn't have air conditioning. There is a pool at my gym, but I still don't feel comfortable in a bathing suit at this point - I'll revisit the pool thing after i've lost another 20 pounds or so.

Damn You Delicious Chili

Here we are, the start of a new week and what do I do? I have 2 helpings of turkey chili for dinner! 2!!! Seriously, I know better than this. This bad decision cost me 24 points for dinner alone today! Talk about a bad start to the week!

So, here I am pledging to not exceed my daily points allowance of 25 points each day this week - Tuesday - Friday! I must get my over eating problem under control - I feel it gaining ground again and have to stop that from happening! Time to put what I know into practice and beat these over-eating cravings!

*sigh* on a related note - I was up one pound at this weeks weigh-in! Obviously I am very disappointed! But I know what the problem is - I am over-eating! This my friends is the source of all evil in my life and I must gain control, otherwise my weight will spiral out of control again!

Despite over-eating today, I did make it to the gym for my regular 1 hour cardio workout and feel slightly better. I wanted to go to a yoga class (and was prepared to do so) but when I got there it was cancelled - so I turned to the good ol' trusty gym and it didn't disappoint!

Clothes, Clothes, Clothes

I will be the happiest woman in the world the day I don't have an array of different sizes in my closet. I have been getting very frustrated with having the added expense of having to run out and buy a new size of a certain article of clothing in an attempt to not look sloppy. Today was another scorcher, so I picked one of my most favourite tanks to wear out of my closet (from Banana Republic) and it was way to big on me!

Saddened, I ran out to my new favourite place to shop - RW & Co. to see what I could find. Luckily, they were having a huge sale and I picked up some tops to help last me through the end of summer and maybe into fall? The best part is - all the tops I bought are a size Large (not even XL). I remember going into this store 4 months ago and being disappointed that none of the XL's would fit - now I have no problems. A really, really great feeling!

So here's what I got:

A Print top (and I don't feel like I am wearing a moo-moo in this!)

A Standard nice purple top (maybe suitable for work on those 30+ degree days?):

And, for those cooler summer days - and maybe even into fall:

Each top was $15, which was great because it didn't break the bank! Whoop.

Weigh in is tonight, I am not expecting anything great, just hoping for a loss tonight after the rough week I had. Now, I really have to stop procrastinating and get working on that darn paper...

Procrastination and a Late Night Dinner

I HAVE to write a paper this weekend for school - so, today I did everything in my power to find other things to do that would distract me from working on that paper.

First I woke up at noon, followed by a couple mind-blowing games of scrabble with my boyfriend. And finally, at around 2pm I decide I better get going on that paper! My eating was very odd today - a couple crackers here, then a Subway sandwich, then some juice and popcorn. After spending a couple hours on that paper, I decided to go to the gym.

2 hours later, and still not wanting to leave, I finally decided to come home to continue working on that darn paper - but when I got home - I found nothing healthy to make for dinner, so I ran out to the grocery store to pick up $100 worth of groceries and made myself a delicious dinner of salad with feta cheese and a bowl of cherries (these items alone didn't cost $100 - I bought many other things)! Yum!

Finally, after preparing this delicious late-night dinner and then blogging about it - it's already 11:30 pm - time to sit, relax and enjoy some Saturday Night Live!

All About Balance

Balance is always something I have struggled with. I almost always over-do it, be it with food consumption, taking on work projects and even in my social life.

Balance is something I struggle with every day - I can never quite find the right level to be at with each of the components in my life. As this blog documents, I am obviously aiming to find the right balance of food and exercise in my life, but I am also trying to find the right work/ school balance. I am finding more and more that these two balance beams (and all the other balance beams in my life for that matter) are very much related and topple over into one another. Balance, as I have come to learn, cannot just be between two components of your life - such as food and exercise - it has to fit with all the components of your life, because they are simply all complexly interconnected.

This last week has been a struggle for me because I have started an intense school program. Since I didn't decrease any other priority in my life, this program has just been added to all my regular responsibilities and it is seriously weighing me down. I feel incredibly overworked, beaten up and thrashed. I am simply exhausted! This - no doubt has resulted in my going to the gym less and not having the time to make my meals and plan (food-wise) ahead of time. I am worried that I will see a gain on the scale on Sunday night - but this week ain't over yet - right?

This week, I notice my physical appearance taking a toll as well - by Friday afternoon (now) - my skin doesn't have the same glow, my hair is all disheveled and the presence of white hairs is making a greater appearance on my head! Yikes!

See, here I am today - the effects of stress are evident as I am equipped with said disheveled hair and furrowed eyebrows (which need plucking):

So what's the lesson here? Over-working yourself does nothing but horrible things to your body, mind, spirit and life. Next time you want to take on a new project - make a place for it in your life, or don't take it on. There is only so much water you can put into a glass before it overflows!

Too Hot to Handle

It's too darn hot here!

I'm not a fan of summer - I will take rain and coldness over this heat any day! I'm so uncomfortable and am just plain grumpy!

I can do nothing but drink water and lay on the couch - and I am still sweating!

Can't wait for this heat wave to be over.

Even if it is hot tomorrow - I will make myself go to the gym!

Boo to heat!

The Previously-Dreaded "Fitted T-Shirt"

This morning, I spent a good 10 minutes browsing through my closet, trying to find an outfit (a summer outfit) that still fits. My closet contains an array of sizes, some are now too big for me and others don't fit quite yet.

I finally located a top that would be suitable for the outrageous weather we've been getting (hot, hot, hot) but it was... dum, dum, dum... a fitted shirt - meaning it clung to my mid section - the one part of my body that has the most fat on it. In fact, I think the remaining 50 lbs I want to lose will come solely from my mid-section as there is not nearly as much fat on any other part of my body.

Unfortunately, the fitted shirt paired with my "they almost fit me" size 12 dress pants gave me a horrible muffin-top - so in a hurry I threw on the "too-big-for-me" size 14 dress pants.

The outfit ended up working for me:

The best part is that the shirt doesn't cling to me - it actually fits me properly! Such a success and really nice considering how hot it is today.

Speaking of hot days, I think drinking copious amounts of water is key to me staying healthy (and hydrated) in the heat:

How do you beat the heat? What you makes you able to bear this hellish hot weather?

The Dangers of LuLu's

FYI:

My "size 12" Lululemon pants fit me now (at 183 lbs) and when I first started losing weight (at 233 lbs).

Beware - and don't measure your body based on those pants! How is this even possible?

Fighting Off My Inner Fat Self

If you've struggled with overweight / obesity issues, chances are, you too have had to struggle with your inner fat self on multiple occasions. Usually, I can manage to fight off my inner fat self when she appears and makes stupid suggestions, such as "don't go to the gym today" and, "Have that extra plate of pasta".

Today, however, my inner fat self came to the forefront and was driving me crazy all. day. long.

I know why too:

I have taken on too much, i've got a super full plate with no end in sight, and I literally do not know how on earth I am going to accomplish all of these projects I've signed myself up to be accountable for.

This is when Fat Lisa emerges and slides her way into my consciousness! That beotch!

When I am stressed and / or panicked by the ridiculous amount of work I have waiting for me to finish, I go into "victim mode", meaning I pity myself, so much so that fat Lisa comes around to tell me that I deserve to take a break from the gym and that I deserve to have another piece of cheese - because dammit - I work hard and from hard work should come rewards!

Now, I know better (now) that this is no reward - this mentality is what got me to 100 pounds over weight! But man, oh man, is fat Lisa ever convincing! She did manage to persuade me to overeat my daily points today by 8 points *sigh* - but she didn't keep me from the gym. She tried so hard to get me to stay home and "relax" but nope - Healthy Lisa faught from the depths of my subconscious and punched fat Lisa in the face to buy me enough time to run my arse over to the gym. While at the gym for my hour cardio workout, fat Lisa resisted every second of the workout - which made it really difficut and made me sweat more than ever before - but I did it - the full hour - despite the nagging voice of fat Lisa.

Inner struggles are the worst - and I don't think there will ever be a way to get rid of this fat Lisa inside me - I just wish she would STFU!

Just another thing I am going to have to master and manage throughout the rest of my life... Good thing I have a blog to vent :) Thanks for reading!

50 POUNDS LOST! Half Way There!

Dear Weight Loss Gods,

Words cannot express how thankful I am to you for allowing me to have a 4 pound loss tonight at my official weigh in. I have to admit that I was a little shocked - I didn't go the gym 3 times this week and I ended up eating 7 points over my weekly and activity allowance. I did manage to make smart choices, but thought for sure that the over-consumption would bring me down, as it has proven to do in the past.

This 4 pound loss brings me to a total of 50 POUNDS LOST SINCE MARCH 1st! I am completely in awe of tonight's weigh in and the best part - I am now 1/2 way to my goal of losing 100 lbs!

Please let the last 50 be as fast and easy to lose as the first 50 were. My goal is to shed these remaining 50 lbs by December 31st, 2010. That means I need to lose an average of 9 pounds a month to hit my goal. Please help me make this goal! I will be forever thankful.

Yours truly,

Lisa

A Couple Days of Laziness!

I didn't blog yesterday and what's worse - I haven't bee to the gym (or done any mode of exercise for that matter) for the past 4 days! This is very unlike me. I've been doing my best to stay on plan food-wise, but with birthday parties come cake and with dinning out at fancy restaurants comes high point dinners... this week has not been my best. I have been eating freezies like they are going out of style - I ate 6 of them for breakfast this morning and had about 5 last night before I went to bed! I am tracking all of this - which is good, but I can do better.

My gym membership expired on the 30th, and I am being cheap in my rationalizing - thinking that the longer I wait the longer my next pass will last me.

It's really odd too because I stepped on my bathroom scale this afternoon (which is always much kinder to me than the gym scale) and the needle landed on 1-8-0. I gasped! This can't be real - i've been eating junk and haven't exercised in days. Tomorrow night we'll see what's really up when I step on the scale at the gym for the official weigh-in!

So here is the plan of attack to get back on track: get my butt in gear RIGHT NOW and go for a long walk, then grab a 6-inch veggie sub from Subway for dinner. That should do it. Then tomorrow - get my new pass at the gym and weigh in for this week!!!

Off for a walk...

What's Up July?

Happy Canada Day!!!

I am looking forward to what July brings, here are my July 2010 goals:

JULY 2010

1.) Break out of the 180's and get to 175 lbs: I am so happy that I can't even see 233 on the scale anymore - I can however see 160 peering around the corner!

2.) Fit comfortably into my size-12 black dress pants: I bought them - now I just need to fit in them comfortably.

3.) Be able to run without stopping at a speed of 5.5 on the treadmill for 10 full minutes. If I can do 8, then I can do 10 - right?

4.) Be able to do 2.5 miles on the treadmill in under 30 minutes. Eventually I want to be able to do 3 miles in 30 minutes, so this is building up to that.

5.) Do yoga at the rec centre at least 5X this month: Learning to listen to my body here
